What is a Ceilidh?..
Pronounced as 'Kay-Lee' it derives from a Gaelic word for a 'gathering' or 'party'... or sometimes referred to as a 'Barn Dance'... it's basically an excuse for music and merriment!.. perfect for a wedding or special occasion for all ages!
My job as the 'Caller' is to guide you through the steps and stages of traditional folk dances with the accompaniment of live (or recorded music). A typical set up would be Caller / Fiddle / Accordion... however, the band size (and musician line-up) is completely tailored to your event from a 2piece to a full 5piece band with drums! The emphasis is on inclusiveness and fun!... I like to get amongst the dances (and dancers) to inject as much 'nonsense' as possible while looking out for those with two left feet!
